Bangkok, Gay Friendly Hotels - Where to Find and Stay

The popularity of tourism has been growing steadily in Bangkok Thailand. This is true especially for gay and lesbian travelers looking for a holiday in an exotic destination. Bangkok offers some of the best nightlife for alternative lifestyles and finding the right hotel and area to stay in will make your trip more memorable.

When it comes to gay and lesbian nightlife the red light district of Patpong is the place to be. Though Patpong is more well known for go go bars and sex shows the area has always had a strong presence of popular gay bars and clubs.

These widely popular bars and clubs are spread out in several locations in Patpong's red light district:

Silom Soi 4 and Soi 2
Patpong Soi 2
Soi Pratoochai on Suriwongse Road, also known as Duangthawee Plaza

Though spread out they are all still within a 5 minute walking distance to each other. All of those places can be easily reached by using the BTS and MRT trains if you're not staying in Patpong. But ideally it's best to stay in a gay friendly hotel nearby so you won't have to worry about travel time.

One new hotel that just opened up recently in Patpong is called Glitz Hotel. It's a small 4 story boutique hotel with a totally gay friendly attitude. Just one word of caution though, they don't have elevators but they do have plenty of people to help you with your bags.

Siam Heritage Boutique Hotel is another place to consider for your stay in Patpong. Though it has been around for awhile the hotel property especially the rooms have been very well maintained and decorated in true Thai style, a rarity these days in newer hotels.

Finally there's the budget friendly Wall Street Inn which is directly opposite Duangthawee Plaza and it's gay go go bars. Overall the hotel is not in the best condition but the location and rates which usually includes a free breakfast is definitely a good deal.

Exotic and Oriental Vacation Spot For Tourism in Thailand - Bangkok

Bangkok is a city of diversity and also is an amazing city for people who come to visit this capital of Thailand. There the modern and sophisticated office buildings, Star hotels and malls those are scattered all across the city of Bangkok, there are about 400 heritage cultural temples in this beautiful city. These temples to some may seem to be a little out of place in a modern and fully developed city like Bangkok, which is pretty contrasting in style with the modernity of urban life seen in most western countries, but they are so amazingly lovely that you keep looking at them in awe. Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand has been an ideal choice as a vacation spot, especially for foreigners since many decades.

When you are walking on the streets and footpaths of Bangkok, you will see local citizens dressed up in modern business attires that you see in most of the western world, you will also come across the Buddhist monks wearing traditional saffron colored robes as well. Such cultural diversity is what makes Bangkok, the capital of Thailand so different. It has become an ideal vacation spot for people from across the world because of its blend of tradition, modernity and cultural diversity.

As is the case with other big cities in Asia, Bangkok too is congested with traffic and people everywhere because of the huge population density. The sultry and hot tropical weather keeps most of Thailand at an average temperature of around 28 degrees Celsius annually which is around 83 degrees Fahrenheit, and in the summers ,the high humidity levels can make you feel more warmer. During the monsoons, the weather is still warm, but heavy rains can bring down the temperature.

The local people are well aware of the importance of foreign tourists and they cleverly try to hustle and convince the foreign tourists for taking their package tour when they are on a business visit. The local people are very warm and courteous and you'll find that many of the people in Thailand are very polite and are good in behavior.

The charges for taxis a bit high wherever you want to go, be it to the temple of the Golden Buddha, The Reclining Buddha or to have some experience of nightlife that has made Bangkok a favorite vacation spot for tourists who visit Thailand. In fact there are many tourists who visit Bangkok to indulge in the sexual services like massages offered by stunningly beautiful young women providing relaxation therapy to their clients for a price. In fact Bangkok is known as the sex capital of the world which once again made this city a much sought after vacation spot for the tourists.

Bangkok is worth exploring for a week or so, after which you can travel to some of the other beautiful vacation spots in Thailand like the Pattaya beach which is approximately a two hour drive from the airport area and then to Phuket, which is also famous for its golden beaches and ancient temples. Bangkok, being the capital of Thailand also offers excellent air connectivity to a majority of the other Asian destinations, which makes this city a great vacation spot in a central location.

Bangkok Red Light District Guide - Where to Go and Where to Stay

Bangkok Thailand has the craziest red light districts in the whole of Southeast Asia. Millions of visitors from all over the world have experienced the people, sights and sounds that permeate throughout Bangkok. It's an indescribable feeling and you'll only know what I'm talking about as soon as your feet hits the outside pavement of the airport.

It's obvious that most visitors who come to Bangkok are male. But because of the Thai people's laid back sensibilities they have no problems at all with gay or lesbian tourist who are now enjoying Bangkok's red light districts in droves.

The city of Bangkok has three distinct red light districts located relatively close to each other. These establishments sprang up and rapidly became popular during the early 1970's towards the end of the Vietnam war.

The first and oldest red light district is found on the Sois (or "Street" to us foreigners) of Patpong 1 and Patpong 2. Patpong 1 being the more popular Soi because that's also where you find the Night Market. Personally if you find something you have to have then bargain hard. Otherwise I'd save my money and shop at Chatuchak Weekend Market. Stuff sold at Patpong's Night Market are just way expensive. Surrounding the Night Market are the infamous go-go bars and ping pong sex shows that make Patpong so famous. The best hotels to stay in this area are the Montien Hotel, Silom Serene, Bally's Suite Silom and Siam Heritage Suites. None of these hotels are guest friendly however.

The next two red light districts are found running through Sukhumvit road. The names are Nana and Soi Cowboy. Nana intersects Sukhumvit road and after 7pm you'll find hordes of freelance prostitutes gathering outside the Nana Hotel parking lot at the entrance of Nana Entertainment Plaza. NEP is a 3 story building filled with the delights of sex and booze. Definitely a must visit.

Soi Cowboy is the smallest red light district but it packs a punch with establishments such as Long Bar and Rawhide. Those two go-go bars have been around for a while and still going strong.

Now most tourist who travel to Bangkok will most likely plan on bringing a companion back to their rooms. If that's you, then you should book a hotel that is "Guest Friendly Hotel". You may have heard of other terms such as girl friendly or no joiner fee hotels. Because if you don't stay in a guest friendly hotel, you will be charged a minimum of 500THB joiner fee by hotel management.

The majority of guest friendly hotels are found in Sukhumvit, conveniently between the red light districts of Nana and Soi Cowboy. Currently there are none in the Patpong area. However, taxis are cheap, so taking one back to your guest friendly hotel in Sukhumvit is definitely cheaper than paying the 500THB joiner fee.
